Story board for final task Hush
Creating my storyboard
I started with a few ideas, once I had a picture in my head I identified a few key scenes in my script. I highlighted the important parts of my story by writing out a few notes, after a couple of attempts I was able to begin the storyboard. I watched a few examples to help me understand the best use of the filming techniques. There were a few visual codes I wanted to use to help construct meaning. Clothing needed to be dark to create the right image of both my protagonist and antagonist.
I wanted to include a couple of low angle shots with diegetic sounds to create a realistic feel to the scene.
The opening shot is a point of view shot, what the character sees, a rucksack, not giving too much away about who is in the room.
The next shot, a low angle shot of shoes, tells the audience that the character is going out, without giving anything else away about who the character is. There is a red car in the next shot, perhaps denoting power or danger and the diegetic sound on the wet road helps to create an unease. I needed to capture some of the scenery to help place the location, if I allowed it to become too dark I would lose the impact of the half-light at dusk which added to the dramatic effect.
